I know what you are thinking. Why in the world am I even mentioning it here.<\/p>\n<p>But lets accept when something has been polished and good enough. In the Linux community, we have tolerance for being second fiddle before we wake up.\u00a0 So cutting to the chase. Windows 8. 1 has pushed some new updates(they are probably old). These updates have made the OS somewhat more usable on the desktop.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>To highlight just a few<\/strong><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Default start<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Default start up screen on the desktop is actually, the desktop. Its no longer the start overlay of live tiles. Making it more relevant for the desktop that relies heavily on the pointing device (in this case being the mouse).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Windows 8 apps<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Windows 8 apps can be managed from the desktop side. Finally! This trashes the disconnect between the desktop and the said apps. Not to forget, the apps now behave well. I can tell you for free. Being a Linux junky, I was a bit OK with the fresh breath as a result of my ginormous 2.7GB update. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\"><strong>Disclaimer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have to say though, Microsoft should consider the 3rd world when pushing updates the size of some peoples hard disks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ok.
